You Can't Save Time

Feb 28, 2023

You can’t save time.

You can’t bank it, store it or save it for a later date.

Businesses that promise they'll save us time are wrong. They can help us do it quicker. They can even do it for us. But time can never be saved, because the clock is always running. We've simply given ourselves the choice of what we'll do with that time instead.

We can spend it watching Netflix. Or we can invest it, by doing something now to recoup something greater later on. Reading, writing, learning, exercising or building something meaningful.

It's impossible to invest every hour of your time. There are plenty of things we have to do, like grocery shopping or commuting to work, that don't deliver any long-term future value.

But when you do get to choose, pick something your future self will thank you for.
