What's it like?

May 16, 2023

The art of the elevator pitch is both a challenge and an opportunity.

Entrepreneurs, driven by their passion for innovation, often struggle to explain their business in a succinct and compelling way.

They’ve been so absorbed in identifying their idea as new and revolutionary, they overlook a crucial element that helps people understand it: explaining what it's like.

The more obscure the business idea, the greater the need for a useful analogy.

Analogies help relate new concepts to things that are more familiar. They serve as mental shortcuts, allowing people to grasp complex ideas by drawing parallels to something they already understand. For example:

  • Headspace is like a gym membership for your mind, helping you build mental strength and resilience

  • Canva is like having a graphic design team at your fingertips, empowering you to create stunning visuals effortlessly.

  • Evernote is like a second brain, faithfully storing and organising all your ideas, plans, and projects.

  • HubSpot is like a Swiss Army knife for your marketing, sales, and customer service.

  • Slack is like a virtual office that brings everyone together, fostering seamless communication and collaboration.

We know you’ve got something new and groundbreaking. We know it’s different.

But if you really want us to understand it, tell us what it’s like.
