The Time-Money Trade
Aug 27, 2024We’ve all heard the advice that you should never trade your time for money because “You can always get more money, but you can never get more time.”
It’s sound advice. But for those earning a salary, it seems like you’re doing something wrong.
We should break out from safety, be our own boss and never settle for being another cog in the machine.
But we’re not all cut out to be entrepreneurs.
Most people spend their entire lives earning a monthly wage. And that's perfectly fine. It's a practical way to provide for yourself and your family. It also builds skills, knowledge and savings.
It might not get you on the cover of Forbes, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Your goal isn’t to avoid trading your time for money. It’s to align your time with your values.
If you’re working a job that supports your life and goals, that’s not failure - that’s success.
So, yes, time is irreplaceable. But don’t let that make you feel guilty when you rent it out to your boss.
Your time is your own. Trade it as you wish.
