False Economies

Jul 30, 2024

Buying cheap shoes, skipping a regular car service, opting for the low-quality desk chair.

It feels like we’re saving money at the time. At face value, the choices look to be equivalent. Shoes are shoes, right? Our car will still run. And a chair is just a chair.

But in reality, you get what you pay for. Hidden costs creep in slowly and the true price of these decisions reveals itself over time.

Cheaper shoes wear out faster. They hurt your feet. You’ll end up buying a more expensive replacement pair later. Missing a service on your car will turn minor issues into major, costly ones. A budget desk chair will give you back pain, lower your productivity and lead to expensive trips to the physio.

Resist the false economies. Short-term savings lead to long-term costs.

You’ll save money now. But you always pay in the end.
